Accessibility statement

We want anyone to be able to plan and book a day on the water with us, whatever technology they use to browse. This page sets out what we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to reach a human if something gets in your way.

The standard we build to

This site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the benchmark referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508 and the European Accessibility Act. We also apply the newer WCAG 2.2 criteria wherever we can, including minimum target sizes and keeping the focus indicator visible.

What that means in practice

Every page works with a keyboard alone. There is a skip link as the first item, so you can jump past the navigation.
Focus is always visible, and never hidden behind the fixed header.
Every image carries a text description, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers rather than read out.
Text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background, and buttons and borders meet 3:1.
You can pinch to zoom. We do not block it.
Pages reflow to a single column at 320 pixels wide with no sideways scrolling.
The before and after photo slider can be operated with the arrow keys, not just by dragging.
The photo viewer traps focus while open, closes with Escape, and returns you to the photo you came from.
If you have asked your device to reduce motion, animations stop and nothing stays hidden behind an effect that no longer runs.
Form errors say what went wrong and how to fix it, and are announced by screen readers rather than only shown in color.

How we test

Automated tools catch roughly a third of real accessibility problems, so we do not stop there. Alongside automated checks that run every time the site is built, we tab through every page without a mouse, shrink the window to 320 pixels, and turn on reduced motion.

Where we know we fall short

Some photographs migrated from our previous website carry a general description rather than a specific one. We are rewriting these as we go.
Our videos do not yet have captions. If you would like a description of what a video shows, ask us and we will write one.
The charter carousel scrolls sideways within its own box. Every charter in it is also listed as plain text on the charters page, so nothing is only reachable by scrolling.

If something does not work

Tell us and we will fix it, and in the meantime we will help you the direct way. No part of booking a charter requires this website: you can do all of it by phone, WhatsApp or email.

If you tell us about a barrier, we aim to reply within one business day and to say plainly whether we can fix it and when.
