Marina Pez Vela

The sportfishing capital of Costa Rica, and home to the Vuelto Loco

In the heart of Quepos, Marina Pez Vela is one of Central America's premier marinas: full-service, well run, and minutes from the fishing grounds that made this coast famous. It is where every Vuelto Loco charter starts and ends.

Why the fishing here is good

  • Deep offshore water close to shore, holding marlin, sailfish, tuna and mahi-mahi
  • Year-round seasons, with the billfish peak from November through April
  • Host to international tournaments including the Offshore World Championship
  • A short run to the inshore rock and reef where the roosterfish live

Marina amenities

  • Full-service marina: secure dockage, fuel dock, pump-out, water and shore power
  • Modern facilities: private restrooms, showers, laundry and 24/7 security
  • Restaurants and shops: casual bites through to fine dining, plus retail and convenience
  • Transport hub: car rental, shuttles, taxis, and flights from nearby Quepos airport
  • Events: international tournaments, community events and live entertainment
  • Medical: an on-site clinic and pharmacy
  • Family friendly: kid-friendly space and ocean-view terraces

More than just fishing

The marina is a destination in itself: waterfront dining, boutique shopping, oceanfront events and reliably good sunsets. It is also the natural starting point for Manuel Antonio, about 20 minutes away.
