Privacy policy

This is a small charter business, not an advertising company. We collect what we need to answer your inquiry and run your trip, and very little else. This page says exactly what that is in plain terms.

Who we are

Vuelto Loco Charters operates from Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. For anything on this page, write to info@vueltolococharters.com.

What we collect

When you send us an inquiry

The contact form asks for your name, your email address, and your message. Depending on the form you may also tell us a phone number, which charter you are interested in, and your dates. You choose what to put in the message box, so please do not send us passport numbers, card details or anything else sensitive. We never need them to answer a question.

When you simply read the site

If you allow analytics, we see anonymous, aggregated information about which pages get read and roughly which country readers are in. If you decline, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, no analytics load at all and we see nothing. See the cookie policy for the detail.

Separately, our web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. That happens for every website and is not something we switch on or off.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your information. Not to anyone, ever.
  • We run no advertising pixels and no cross-site tracking. There is no Meta pixel, no remarketing tag and no advertising cookie on this site.
  • We do not build profiles of you or make automated decisions about you.
  • We do not add you to a mailing list because you sent an inquiry.

Who else touches it

Three third parties are involved in running this site, and it is fair that you know which:

  • Formspree receives and forwards the contact form. Your message passes through their systems on its way to our inbox.
  • Google Analytics measures page views, and only if you allow it. We have IP anonymization switched on, so Google truncates the address before storing it.
  • Google Fonts serves the two typefaces this site uses. Loading a font means your browser contacts Google, which sees your IP address. This happens on page load and is not covered by the consent banner, because the site cannot render without its type.

Our web hosting is provided on servers in the United States. If you are writing to us from the EU or the UK, that means your inquiry crosses a border to reach us.

How long we keep it

Inquiry emails stay in our inbox while we are talking to you and for a reasonable period afterward, since guests often come back. Analytics data is retained by Google on their standard schedule. If you want your inquiry deleted sooner, ask us and we will do it.

Your rights

Costa Rican law, specifically Ley 8968 on the protection of personal data, gives you the right to know what we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, and to have it deleted. The regulator is PRODHAB. If you are in the EU or the UK, the equivalent rights under the GDPR are ones we will honor too rather than argue about which law applies.

To use any of them, email info@vueltolococharters.com and say what you want. There is no form and no fee.

Children

Children are welcome on the boat. This website, however, is not aimed at them, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes to this page

If we add or remove a service that touches your data, this page gets updated and the date at the top changes with it.
